Often Overlooked Blessings: Health and Free time !

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Hi once again, I know its been a long time since my first post. As I am new to blogging, I will have to set a fixed amount of time for blogging on a weekly basis Inn sha Allah.

Inn sha Allah will try to post once or the max twice in a week.  In these months I have been contemplating and reflecting on my life and my blessings. At this point I remember the famous hadith in which Ibn Abbas raḍyAllāhu 'anha (may Allāh be pleased with her) reported that : Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, said: “There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.” which is so true especially in this busy world.

Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) has blessed all human beings with same amount of time which we all have in common and in the same exact measure. Still most of us fail to recognize the value of time and to make the most out of it. Subhanallah we are living in a fast paced world where everything and everyone is in a rush. In today’s world time is money. Yet no one has time for anything. There comes the importance of time management and being productive each and every moment of your life. As is the case with good health, we constantly keep neglecting our bodies until it’s too late and too hard to redeem ourselves. And I was thinking to my self how long will I neglect taking care of myself.. my health and body which is an immense blessing of our creator Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) which we often take for granted. We think that good health will always be with us. As this world is temporary everything in it is temporary as well. Like all other gifts it will also lose its charm and will be taken away if we don’t put an effort.

I have been guilty of wasting time and not taking good care of my body. I always wanted to eat healthy, workout regularly and maintain a good sleep routine. All of us wish to be fit and healthy. But nothing is achieved by mere wishes or day dreaming or trying for few days and then back to the vicious cycle of being  unmotivated and frustrated . Before also I have tried time and time again to diet or to exercise regularly but then I use to stop after few days. So I thought to myself what’s happening to my wishes which I deeply wanted to achieve, but still can’t achieve or try consistently towards my goals. I thought to myself where am I going wrong. I found out the reason why I was stopping and not continuing. I always complained about being unmotivated, being tired, having no time for exercise .

And I tried to fake my emotions that I am happy with how I look or what I eat which was subconscious, but still deep inside my heart I always wanted to eat healthy, look great and feel amazingly fresh and energetic. With the deep desire inside me time and time I failed. The first reason was I was not doing it for the sake of pleasing Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) , I was not trying to be grateful to Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) by looking after my health for his pleasure as I will be questioned about each and every blessing on the day of judgement. When I thought more about it I was more conscious of being not able to answer on the day of judgement of ignoring Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He)‘s immense blessing of good health despite of having tons of free time. So I got my Intentions correct and started to take small steps like trying to eat healthy, trying to apply my little knowledge of taking care of my body which I have collected in so many years by reading health articles, which we all do but don’t apply.

My dear Beloved Sisters the right intentions are so important, we must do it for ourselves, we have to do it to please our beloved master and to make our creator proud on the day of judgement. And Alhamdulillah then and there my weight loss journey started. And as believers we have to try to excel in what we do. So don’t just try to lose your weight by just trying out fad diets. Do it the proper way, eat healthy, workout, set your sleep routine right and lastly which is utmost important to pray to Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) to help you in your effort and to bless us immensely in whatever we are doing. So Inn sha Allah with the help of Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) we will slowly and steadily reach our destinations with excellent results. I have just started my journey and I invite all of you to join me in this long journey. Its been three weeks now and Alhamdulillah I have lost 3.5 kgs. I will be sharing my experiences with you all and will be taking small but efficient and consistent steps. So keep looking for this spot for losing those extra fat and not gaining it back Inn sha Allah. First tiny step is to drink at least 2.5 liters of water everyday. So start with the right intentions, lots of duas and in the name of Allah the Almighty. Inn sha Allah see you all in a few days.

Jazakumullahu Khairan!!
