How to make clean eating easy, tasty and interesting?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Hi everyone, clean eating can be made very interesting and delicious for that we need to change the way we think about eating nutritious food. Firstly in everything we do we need to ask Allah to help us to do it in the best manner. Starting each and every task with bismillah brings a lot of barakah to it. Starting in the name of Allah is really the key to a successful beginning to any task. I pray Allah make it easy for all of us to remember to start our tasks with bismillah and I pray Allah shower lots and lots of barakah to all our daily tasks.

Its really amazing that we can reprogram our taste buds, we just need to try and eat healthy more often and this leads to our taste buds having a chance to develop a liking for it. For all this we need a heart which is immensely grateful to Allah for each and every dot of food we have on our plate. We need a heart which is accepting to try nutritious food and we need to constantly ask Allah to help us in eating that which is healthy and nutritious. And we have to ask Allah to help us to make it enjoyable for our taste buds as well.

I love experimenting and trying anything which is halal, tayyib, easy, tasty, nutritious, few ingredients and less time consuming. As Muslims we have to be the most efficient in whatever we do. One of the recipe I experimented is really simple and ticks of almost all the categories mentioned above. So thought of sharing it with everyone. So here we go Bismillah!

Ingredients needed:

Chick Peas (Soaked and cooked) 4 cups

Button Mushrooms (chopped) 400 grams

Onion 1 large

Kashmiri red chili powder 2-3 tablespoons

Turmeric powder 1/2 tablespoon

Coconut Oil 4 -5 tablespoons

Dried ginger powder 1/2 tablespoon

Almonds 7-8 (chopped)

Salt to taste

Starting with Bismillah slice the onion thinly, Place a stainless steal pan on low heat and add the coconut oil, when the oil is bit hot add the onions with salt and sauté until translucent and slightly golden brown. Then add Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder and ginger powder. Nicely mix them and then add the chopped mushrooms and keep it on low flame for few minutes until mushroom is cooked and thoroughly mixed with the spices. Then add cooked chickpeas and mix well. Now check the salt and spice. At this time if you sense it needs a bit of salt and red chili powder or dried ginger powder, then add them now and mix well and sauté them for couple of minutes. At this point we can also drizzle some more coconut oil if it feels so dry. Then finally add the chopped almonds on top, serve, say bismillah and enjoy. And after eating lets not forget to thank allah by saying the masnoon Dua after eating taught to us by our beloved prophet (ﷺ). While we are eating any food its always a good exercise to look into the food we are eating, reflect on the shape, taste and texture of each component and ponder about the process, people and countless amount of time and effort it took for that food to get into our plate. Think and reflect who made this happen, who facilitated this, who made this process so easy, its Ar-Rahman (The Most Merciful). His mercy is immeasurable. He is Ar-Razzaq (The Ultimate Provider). This kind of reflection makes us people of immense gratitude. I pray Allah make us people of immense gratitude and make all of us among his favorite slaves whom he will be proud of on the day of judgement. Ameen! And سبحان الله if we just reflect upon the fact that the amount of variety in food Allah has provided us with, isn’t it amazing. Indeed All praise and thanks belongs to Allah. Alhamdulillah!

-This is a simple recipe to throw together when you are really hungry and don’t want to eat junk and want to eat something healthy and tasty,

– I have also tried the same recipe substituting mushrooms with egg. It came out really well, Alhamdulillah. While making with egg you can either use onion or skip onion all together, I skipped onion when I made.

– All the spices and salt in this recipe can be adjusted according to individual preferences.

-This was my dinner and I paired it with a glass of pure carrot and apple juice (no water or sugar added).

-This is really filling, even a small bowl of this will fill and make you energized In-Shaa’Allāh!
